About
The Looking Barn
Our Story
A Dream That Came Full Circle.
The Looking Barn was established in 2019, but the story behind it began long before we ever opened our doors.
Amanda Lookingbill holds a degree in Specialized Business and has spent more than 16 years in the wedding industry, working as a venue manager and wedding and special events coordinator. After years of helping other couples create their perfect wedding day, Amanda and her husband dreamed of one day opening a venue of their own. They just never imagined that dream would bring them back to a place that already held so many memories.
From Childhood Memories to The Looking Barn
Amanda and her husband both grew up in Littlestown, Pennsylvania, and have always felt a strong connection to the community. The property that is now The Looking Barn was once known locally as Koony’s Barn. Amanda remembers visiting Koony’s Barn (A Vintage/Antique Shop for over 40 years) with her mom as a little girl and passing the property almost every day on her way to and from school. Years later, after stepping away from the wedding industry to start a family, Amanda found herself missing the work she had always loved. After three children and a different career path, the desire to return to the wedding industry never went away. Then the opportunity to bring new life to a place that had been part of her childhood came along. And suddenly, the dream began to feel possible.
A Dream Becomes Reality
Amanda had always hoped to return to the wedding industry, but it was the encouragement of former clients, friends, and family that gave her the confidence to take the leap. People who had worked with Amanda before continued to seek her out for her experience, attention to detail, and ability to make the wedding planning process feel less overwhelming. That support helped turn what once seemed like a far-off dream into a reality. In 2019, The Looking Barn was born. What started as a dream of owning a wedding venue became something much more meaningful, a family-owned business in the community Amanda and her husband have always called home.
Family Owned. Locally Rooted. Personally Invested.
The Looking Barn is a privately owned and family-operated wedding and special events venue. Being family-owned means that every couple who walks through our doors matters to us. We don’t want you to feel like you’re simply renting a space. We want you to feel like you have an experienced team in your corner. From your first tour to your wedding day, we’re here to answer questions, help you think through the details, and share the experience we’ve gained from more than 16 years in the wedding industry.
Experience You Can Count On
A beautiful venue is important.
But experience matters, too.
After years of working in weddings and special events, we’ve learned that the little things can make a big difference.
Understanding timelines.
Working with vendors.
Creating room layouts.
Preparing for weather.
Keeping the day moving.
Knowing what couples often forget.
And being there when something unexpected happens.
Our goal is to use that experience to help make your wedding day feel beautiful, organized, and enjoyable.
We’re known for our experience, in-house planning, and day-of services because we believe you shouldn’t have to figure everything out on your own.
